Tales of Aezeron

This is a 5th edition D&D Podcast in which I am a player. This is an example of a podcast in which the players are not told about main plot points, or conflicts but have the ability to contribute pieces of the world, society and what it means to characters. While combat exists and mechanics are utilized through a system called ‘Fantasy Grounds Unity’, they are secondary to the plot development.

Available for listening on many platforms like google play and apple pod but also located here.

Journals Written in Character Voice

It’s difficult enough to find your own voice, but when you’re developing your character, exercising their perspective when you have time- even when they do not voice their opinions at the moment- creates an anchor to their reality.

They have relationships, history, opinions and sensations. Writing these in a personal journal keeps track of the game progression and assists in getting ‘into character’.

Do not be afraid to explore flaws and internal conflicts. The best characters have fears, worries, and concerns. The strangest things might define them.

In Character Journal Entry Excerpt| Seirryth

Apparently, we were late. Much to Morgrim’s horror, surely. Though I think he was mortified when I came upon him grooming his beard. My attempt at bonding over hair-scalp grooming seemed to only make Morgrim strangely sheepish. (Note: Perhaps scalp hair is not equivalent to beard hair in status.)

Sai held out his hand for the maps I offered and I gave it to Aldon instead. Perhaps this was cruel of me, but the man stank of ale still, and didn’t have the presence of mind to eat his own breakfast and find his own  partner for a ride. Shameful by association, I hope that Sai doesn't overly identify with elven heritage and that the insult to even suggest to take the place of Kun-gar does not encourage ‘the wreckless’ to be reckless.

As navigator I thought it clever to ride point- though I would much prefer to be flexible and mid-distance. So far it is enough to write on the back of this horse.

Strangely we have seen evidence of goblins- interesting migration pattern, yet there is nothing for them here to lay low into the ground. My suspicion is that we will find the goblins attempting to expand their territory. Though why-?

I shall try my luck speaking with the King and ask what a day in the life of his kingdom is like- how do they fare without a king? Is the government so decentralised for a monarchy?
